Care for Kids Program
Care for Kids is Iowa’s Early Periodic, Screening, Diagnosis & Treatment (EPSDT) program for children who are on Medicaid. The focus of this program is to assist children from birth to age 20 to receive preventive health services such as well-child exams, immunizations, lead screenings, dental & vision exams. Care for Kids will contact the parent or guardian of a child who is newly eligible for Medicaid to explain these services & offer needed assistance for medical and dental providers. Enrollment in the Care for Kids Program qualifies children for transportation to & from medical or dental appointments. For more information on the Care For Kids Program, please contact Iowa Health and Human Services or Chris at 712-890-9527 orcgorman@familyia.org.
Hawki
Hawki is affordable medical and dental insurance through the state of Iowa. Unlike other programs with more restrictive income guidelines, Hawki coverage can help families at a wide variety of income levels. The monthly premium costs are based on income, but no family pays more than $40, regardless of how many children they have. In fact, this resource is open to many families that are unaware of their eligibility – making Hawki a highly underutilized tool in Iowa.
Firefly serves eligible families in Cass, Harrison, Mills, Monona, Pottawattamie and Shelby counties in Iowa. If you live outside of those areas, but would like to connect with someone about Hawki, please call 800-257-8563 to find support.
